Field Supervisor

Decided to go back home during the 4 hr break, later going back to school for OB lecture...my hands still stink from touching the dough! Bleagh...man..makes me wanna puke..really.

Anyway, i had a pleasant surprise when i saw Mrs Pay (Deborah Pay) come into the classroom this morning and give us a lecture...she was my field supervisor and she was soo kind, so understanding and really nice that i could just kiss her for calming my nerves down last friday..she was truly and genuinely encouraging and understanding...in fact i was just saying to sharon last week during lunch that i wish we had a lecturer like Mrs Pay and that i was pretty sad to see her go after assessing the both of us...AND i was also seriously thinking of email-ing her just for fun..but i thot, better not...she'll either think i'm probably demented (haha) or that i'm sucking up to her... =o

So i did not..and i felt it such a pity that i get to meet one of the nicest lecturers (from RTRC) only once.

Thank God i get to see her again...she's pretty deep in her thinking (which was being said through her words)
I cannot agree with her more..that early childhood educators (ME!) are responsible for children's first experiences...in fact, i have a bit more to add...i feel that childcare teachers shld not be called childcare teachers anymore..it's rather degrading because whenever one calls another a childcare teacher, one thinks that the job of a childcare teacher is to simply care for children, which is not true!
We nurture children, we discipline them, we show love and affection towards them, we educate them...in Mrs Pay's words, we have the power to make or break them.
Therefore, undermining a childcare teacher's job is very insulting.

I mean, many of us have memories of our childhood and i bet many of us have or still remember a bad incident that involved teachers punishing or scolding u or ur classmates. There's a reason why u remember the incident even though it happened eons ago. And u will always remember, perhaps for as long as you live. It happened when u're a kid, you shld have forgotten it. But the fact is, you didn't. Why?

Because first experiences are crucial for children.
And who determines them?
Us, early childhood educators.

Well..anyway, enuff of my opinions and views for the day..haha..i wanted to say bye to Mrs Pay just now but i shy...

hahaha..but seriously..i was. So i didn't. Say bye that is. Kinda regretting it now..Dunno if i'll ever see her again..cuz like i said, she was real nice and supportive during my supervision and she was really eager and genuinely interested to hear me explain about my learning centre activities. She sees my effort and i appreciate that. It makes me feel like it was all worthy because she noticed and acknowledged the effort i put in. Makes me more motivated and feel that my meticulous-ness (if there's such a word..haha) had not gone to waste..

It's nice to know that nice ppl are still around...
