World Cup

I've been sick since last sat *sob*...had very bad sore throat, which led to fever, runny nose, a little bit of asthma too actually (but didn't tell mom) and later on, i lost my voice...so doc advised me to whisper and if possible not to talk on the phone and stuff...Great! I'm itching to talk abt this World Cup thingie and i cant talk!
AND i got no one to talk to abt it also! My 2 close guy frens seem to be WIPED OUT FROM THIS PLANET; sunny turned into a workaholic & ben seemed to turn into a bookworm (hahz...studious boy la k...)

So into my loyal blog it goes....

Bah...lousy la that Materazzi...But i esp like Gennaro Gattuso..he seems nice...and the captain is quite handsome ah..*smiles*...whats his name..? Fabio sth...cant remember these foreign names, it's like a tongue twister! Haha...

Well, for starters..i'm not exactly a true blue soccer fan but i did watch the one and only match (hehz) during the World Cup 2006 (i cant help it if i cant wake up in the middle of the MORNING to watch 24 men running after a ball now, can i? Hehe), which was e final one (like duh! haha..) between Italy and France. I was truly, TRULY not rooting for any country in particular...really.

(FYI, i wear some of the country's football jerseys cuz i think the design is nice, not cuz i SUPPORT the team..but of course i do know some of the players in the team that i wear...some of them are hot and stuff..haha..some of them are nice to look at, that kind of thing...guys wun understand...haha..so...a.n.y.w.a.y....)

I watched the encore of the match cuz i think my eyes cannot open, even if i put toothpicks in between. So i didn't bother trying to stay awake and so i watched the news in the morning at channel newsasia (by the way, sunny spoilt my surprise by messaging me in the middle of DAWN to tell me that Italy won! He ah..)

And to my surprise (more like SHOCK) when i saw the news abt Zinedine Zidane head butting Materrazi...i was thinking, "OMG why did he do that for!??"
As if the incident abt Wayne Rooney kicking or stepping or whatever the heck it was he did to that poor Portugese guy's groin is not enuff, NOW Zidane is head butting a guy's chest as if he's a bull!

I thot, "Drama man..."

So i just HAD to watch the encore..surprisingly, i had no trouble staying up that night...i was at the edge of the seat the entire time, eagerly anticipating that one GOLDEN moment...I just had to see for myself..i wanna see what instigated Zidane to do such a thing, what with him retiring after this and everything..but i decided to hold my toungue AND my opinions until i hear and see facts from various sources..

And so after watching the match, and reading newspapers the next day, keeping up with it on the news on tv, i have come to a conclusion that Materazzi should NOT have done what he did. It's strategy alright...with Thierry Henry being substituted and with Zidane out of the team, Italy have more chances to win! And so apparently his strategy is to get Zidane all riled up, throw a temper tantrum and hoping for the referee to give him a red card..but isn't that a dirty way of playing?!

I mean, what Zidane did to Materazzi was definitely NOT professional at all, it's a lil barbaric i must say...after all, seeing that he's the captain and what's more, he's NOT new in this football profession, he should have already learnt how to handle when faced with such football players on the field. I mean..he should be used to it by now..right?

But the very fact that Materazzi did that, though he denied insulting Zidane's mom and sis and calling Zidane a terrorist, but whatever it is that he says to defend himself, he sure MUST have said SOMETHING INSULTING that made Zidane want to do that to him!
Bah...as if Zidane would hit Materazzi's chest with his head if Materazzi was commenting abt something trivial like the weather!?

Now thats a joke!

Well, thats the one n only thing that that i totally disagree on in the Finals World Cup 2006.

The fact that Italy won and many said that they deserve it...well, i'm sure they do cuz i cant comment on that..i never follow their matches so i cant say that they have been consistent or whatever..

But one thing is clear though, i didn't like what Materazzi did, even though it's part of the strategy to win or watever the reason might be...and the most frustrating part is, after the excruciating painful expression he wore on his face after Zidane head butt his chest, minutes later when the game resumed, it's like magic...the pain is suddenly gone and you see Materazzi running across the field...

How come?!! Pain suddenly gone ah?
